Anxiety and depression are on the rise and nearly everyone feels the effects of one or the other. Although pharmaceuticals may provide help with the symptoms, they also can have negative side effects. On the other hand, a significant amount of research supports the findings that therapeutic yoga can help treat depression and anxiety without side effects.    

This workshop identifies those yoga practices which regulate anxiety and those which are helpful for depression. We explore these practices using breathing practices, movement, focused awareness, postural alignment, and simple chanting in order to better access the mind-body network that affects both our moods and the systems of our body.

Bio of Brenda Lyons

Brenda is a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher and an Advanced Teacher of Yoga Therapy who is finishing up her 800-hour professional certification as a Yoga Therapist. She has received extensive training in Mindfulness practices and has a certification to teach Yoga for Stress Relief.
